The British Embassy in Chisinau is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit a dedicated Trade Policy Officer.
The main purpose of this new role is two-fold:
(1) to field enquiries from UK businesses who wish to export to Moldova, including identifying barriers to that trade and working with the UK Department of International Trade (DIT) network to tackle them;
(2) to work with DIT to provide advice and support to inform the transition and implementation of the bilateral trade agreement.

This is a full-time permanent position of 35 hours (net) per week. The gross monthly salary is 30,209 MDL payable in 12 equal instalments.
All applicants must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Republic of Moldova and be prepared to ensure that right remains the scope of the contract. The British Embassy does not sponsor for work permits. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Chisinau are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law.
The British Embassy, Chisinau prides itself on having a strong one-team approach with good coordination between all sections. The jobholder, after DIT induction training, will have considerable autonomy, and there will be plenty of scope for acquiring and developing wider core trade skills. DIT and the Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office have a strong Learning and Development (L&D) culture supporting a 70:20:10 learning posture (70% on-the-job informal learning, 20% informal learning from others, 10% formal learning).
In a relatively small Embassy, the job holder will be involved in corporate issues (e.g. as a member of the Post Management Committee, L&D development and undertaking the Duty Officer role along with other UK-based staff). You will also be expected to be a member of Post Crisis Management team.
