Volunteering: environmental data collection in Purcari Region

Development Policy Foundation/Fundacja Polityki Rozwojowej, based in Warsaw (fpr.org.pl & soeasty.eu & bikeandwine.md), and its consortium of EU, Moldavian and Ukrainian NGOs, are currently implementing two projects in the cross-border MD/UA area, in Stefan Voda region. Both are focused on water management and ecosystem services mapping and assessment.

In this regard, DPV/FPR is looking for Moldova based volunteer for a period of 1 week (with full employment option), between March 31 and April 7, to support its field activities by collecting data of ponds ecosystem in Purcari region (Crocmaz and surroundings). The main goal of the research is to create an open website with the description of both data collection methods and results.

For the volunteer it will be a great opportunity to work in international environment and to get experience in field work, using IT tools.


  • Assist in research/ data collection on Nihalcea pond and its surrounding area: water tests, plants description, pictures collection, etc.,
  • Incorporation of collected data into the system created for this aim.

Profile and Qualifications:

  • Environmental studies, geography, biology student ;
  • Interest and comprehension of Ecosystem Services Mapping & Assessment;
  • High level of precision and organization;
  • Excellent practical knowledge of IT tools: Google maps, Google My Maps, Land Viewer and other free tools for geospatial / environmental data collection;
  • Ability to produce analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data;
  • English: proficiency (including professional and technical/environmental jargon);
  • Ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms (written and verbal); 
  • Genuine good communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently, but under senior staff guidance;
  • The full-time availability between March 31 and April 7, 2019 is required.
