Extended deadline: People in Need Moldova requests offers within the Translators Roster


People in Need (PIN) is a Czech NGO with headquarters established in Prague, the Czech Republic. PINs representative office in Moldova is implementing a series of activities in development of the social field, small and medium business support, youth and community empowerment along with the development of the organic agriculture.


The purpose of the roster is to provide expertise and qualified translations support to People in Need Moldova, in the following services:

  • Written translation of documents, publications, studies etc for relevant PIN Programs from English into Romanian/Russian, Romanian/Russian into English.
  • Consecutive/Simultaneous interpretation services for PIN Moldova Programs from English into Romanian/Russian, Romanian/Russian into English.


The objective is to secure timely and at the highest quality of services for the PIN Moldova Office, ensuring internal consistency (adequate terminology, understandable language, clarity and precision).

Duties and Responsibilities

Scope of Work

The Translator / Interpreter will be responsible to:

  • Perform translations at the highest quality, from English into Romanian/Russian, Romanian/Russian into English, of relevant materials for PIN programs, (program/project - related documents, promotion material, books, workbooks and other relevant material);
  • Provide the highest quality of interpretation services from English into Romanian/Russian and vice versa.

Deliverables and Timeline

The Offertor will be responsible for the following deliverables:


  • Provide timely and high quality translations of the final text, ready to be printed.
  • Provide high quality interpretation services from English to Romanian/Russian and vice versa.
  • Ensure confidentiality of the translated materials.
  • The standard time frame for the translation delivery shall be as follows (from the date of submission by PIN Moldova):

  • The translated material must be signed and certified by the translator prior to the submission to PIN Moldova.
  • The material to be translated will mainly be:
  • Standard Documents: Program related content, i.e. social and human sciences, small and medium business development, organic agriculture, youth policies and international development.
  • Technical Documents: Accounting, Legal documents, documents covering construction, rehabilitation, etc.

Simultaneous Interpretation:

  • Provide simultaneous translation during meetings, workshops, conferences from Romanian/Russian – English and Vice Versa.
  • Workshops may last 1 - 10 days.
  • The task per day may last 1 - 10 hours.
  • Scope of workshops will cover program and technical related content.
  • Payments shall be based on the act of delivery/service acceptance
  • The Offeror shall deliver translated material by e-mail or hard copies in, typed in Word file during business hours.


The Offeror shall provide PIN Moldova with management information reports consisting, at a minimum, of the following:

  • An invoice issued for every document with all the necessary calculations divided by Program.

Service Standards:

The Offeror shall provide polite, responsive and efficient service at all times to fulfill PIN Moldova requirements.


  • Excellent writing skills in English and Romanian/Russian.
  • Ability to work both independently and in teams in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong ability to work under deadline pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Display cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.
  • Demonstrates integrity by modeling ethical standards.
  • Ability to produce a high volume of quality content.

Required Skills and Experience


  • To be eligible for the roster, offerors must have minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in translating / interpreting in at least one of the areas listed above (democratic governance, poverty reduction, environment and energy, crisis prevention and recovery, health, gender, or capacity development).
  • Understanding of the Republic of Moldova socio-economic situation and civil society, with special emphasis on social welfare sector and general social issues.
  • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, experience in handling web- based management systems.


  • Successful offerors must have a Bachelor Degree in English Language, public policy, economics or another related field.
