The Government of Japan (the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology: MEXT) offers scholarships to international students who wish to study at universities in Japan as Japanese studies students, in the framework of the Scholarship Program for 2026.
Application Deadline:
The applications should be submitted to the Embassy of Japan in Moldova no later than Monday, February 16, 2026.
Applications sent by e-mail will not be accepted.

Important Notes:
- Please read carefully the Program Guidelines. Any application missing any of the necessary documents will be automatically disqualified.
- All documents must be written in Japanese or English. If the documents are written in another language, a translation by an official institution must be attached.
- All documents except for the certificate of Japanese language ability must be submitted in original.
Results of the document screening and written examination:
- All application documents will be examined by the Embassy.
- On Tuesday, February 24, only successful applicants will be notified of the results of the document selection process. Please configure your settings to receive emails from japan.chisinau@ci.mofa.go.jp
- The shortlisted applicants will be invited to take written examinations scheduled for the week of February 23, 2026. The subjects for written examinations are as indicated in the Program Guidelines. Details of the written examination will be communicated only to those who pass the document screening.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants should have Moldovan citizenship. Those who have multiple citizenships (for example, Moldovan and Romanian) can apply only in one of these countries.
