The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova is seeking to offer funded traineeship to young graduates in the Political, Press and Information Section and Cooperation Section.

Traineeships of up to 6 months within the following sections of the EU Delegation to Moldova, starting in June 2023:

The EU Delegation works on the implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement with the objectives of political association and economic integration between partners. Following the recommendation by the European Commission and the decision of the European Council in June 2022 on granting candidate status to the Republic of Moldova, provided the country fulfils nine steps, the EU Delegation’s work has been extended to support the Republic of Moldova and report to EU Headquarters on the implementation of the nine steps and the country’s progress in the framework of the 2023 Enlargement Package.

• Traineeship in the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI):

The Political, Press and Information Section closely monitors the country’s progress on the recommendations set forward in this process, and the country’s readiness to adopt and implement EU legislation. The Delegation promotes democratic values, and supports the implementation of key reforms in the field of rule of law and resilient society. The Political, Press and Information Section monitors, analyses and reports political, economic and social developments in the Republic of Moldova. The Section engages with the country’s political actors, authorities, stakeholders and civil society, and promotes EU values, communication and visibility

Main tasks:

• Support the Political Section in monitoring, analysing and reporting political, legal and economic developments in the Republic of Moldova;
• Support the Political Section in monitoring and reporting the country’s progress in implementing the nine recommendations as outlined by the European Commission’s Opinion, and with regards to the 2023 Enlargement Package;
• Gather data and carry out analytical tasks through independent research on specific issues in the fields of law, domestic political and economic affairs;
• Attend and report on events, seminars, conferences, support the Delegation’s activities on visibility;
• Contribute to organising events, meetings and visits;
• Carry out any other assignments as instructed by the Head of Section.

• Traineeship in the Cooperation section (COOP):

Following the Decision of the European Council to grant candidate status to the Republic of Moldova, the EU Delegation’s work has been extended to cover the support of the Republic of Moldova in the implementation of the nine steps and reporting to the European Commission Headquarters on the progress to that end.

Several projects implemented by the EU Delegation focus on supporting Moldova in fulfilling its commitments regarding accession related work and implementing the requirement for accession, fulfilling the “Copenhagen criteria”, including alignment of the EU body of law (the “acquis communautaire”).

Main tasks:

• Support the Operations section in implementing EU funded projects in the Republic of Moldova;
• Assist in monitoring the developments in the implementation of reforms and adoption of legislation and asses their compliance with the EU requirements (as outlined by the Commission’s Opinion on the Republic of Moldova’s application for membership of the European Union and its Analytical Report on Moldova’s alignment with the EU acquis);
• Attend and report on events, seminars, conferences, support the Delegation’s activities on visibility and communication;
• Contribute to organising events, meetings and visits;
• Carry out any other assignments as instructed by the Head of Section.

We look for:

Qualifications or special requirements:

• Taking into account the local health and security conditions, applicants currently residing in the Republic of Moldova will only be considered.
• At least Bachelor’s degree in political science, international relations, economics or law;
• Demonstrated interest in European Union policies, international cooperation or regional politics;

In addition, depending on the profile:

PPI

• Excellent knowledge of English and fluency in Romanian are required;
• Good understanding of the Moldovan legal system and experience in research are assets;
• Fluency in Russian is an asset.

COOP

• Very good knowledge of English is required;
• Good understanding of the Moldovan public administration framework is an asset.

Important information to read before applying

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.

Citizens from EU Member states:

• must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
• must undertake to apply for a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable,  based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.

The Delegation informs that even if our Headquarters confirm the eligibility of the selected candidate, traineeships could be postponed, suspended or even cancelled considering the context of the COVID-19 in the host country as well as in the country of origin where applicable.
