Organizational Context 

NGO Hope and Health (A.O Speranță și Sănătate) in partnership with Diakonie ACT Austria and with the support of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) from the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and BfdWG funds, launched the project “ABILITAREA - equal rights for people with intellectual disabilities” (hereinafter - project).

The project will contribute to developing the capacities of state and non-state actors, in particular for the development of community social services and "guided jobs" for adults with intellectual disabilities, directly contributing to implementation of the legal framework.

The aim of the project is for people with intellectual disabilities (IDPs) and their families to gain greater empowerment, self-determination and inclusion in their local community.

The project design has been informed by a basic desk review on gender equality aspects. Now, at the beginning of this project, a more thorough analysis will be conducted with the aim to identify aspects of gender inequality, which the work of Hope and Health can contribute to challenge as well as aspects of do no harm, which need to be considered.

Objectives and scope

This analysis is special as it focuses on understanding key aspects of gender inequalities in Moldovan society in general – which also impact on the specific situation of this project – but focuses more in particular on the life experiences of men and women with intellectual disabilities, which include discrimination in certain areas that affect both men and women.

Management arrangements

The selected expert(s) will be working in close cooperation with Hope and Health project team and Austrian Project Coordinator. All costs associated with the assignment, including travel, communication should be included in the offer. All deliverables submitted will be coordinated with the representative of the Diakonie ACT Austria gem. GmbH responsible for the supervision of the current project.
