U.S. Embassy is hiring an Information Assistant (Media/Grants)


Under the direct supervision of the Information Officer, the Media/Grants Assistant is responsible for seeking opportunities to promote United States Government (USG) objectives in local media; monitoring Romanian and Russian-language print and broadcast media, internet portals and news sites in order to brief the Media Specialist and the Information Officer on developments of interest to the mission and the USG; supporting other Embassy sections by consulting on appropriate media outreach for their activities. Under direction of the Information Officer and Public Affairs Officer, the Media/Grants assistant helps develop and implement post's media development programs; assists the Grants Specialist in administering the media portfolio of the Democracy Commission Small Grants program, including maintaining the contact database, assisting with technical reviews of proposals, and on-site program monitoring.


Qualifications and Evaluations


EXPERIENCE: Minimum one year of media-related work or project implementation experience is required.

Education Requirements:

At least two years of full-time post-secondary study (or the equivalent hours spread across a part-time study period) at college or university are required.


LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English, Romanian and Russian are required. This will be tested.


  1. Must have some knowledge of key Moldovan political and cultural institutions, including knowledge of current events in politics, economics, and security issues.  Must have knowledge of the Romanian and Russian language media, as well as key media players. 
  1. Must be able to work skillfully and smoothly under pressure and tight deadlines; to exercise initiative, creativity, sound judgment and flexibility in adjusting to rapidly and unexpectedly changing priorities.
  1. Must have good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access).
