World Bank is hiring a Health Specialist / Health Economist

The World Bank Country Office in Moldova is seeking a candidate with outstanding interpersonal and diplomatic skills, ability to develop, manage and implement a partnership strategy, with international and local partners for the following position:

Health Specialist / Health Economist

Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Support tasks teams in the preparation, design and implementation of analytical and advisory services and lending operations in the health sector in Moldova and other countries as needed;

- Participate and contribute to the health policy dialogue with the Moldovan Government and other development partners.

- Contribute, together with the Health, Nutrition, Population (HNP) Global Practice, Country Management Unit and with the Government and development partners, to strategic discussions regarding development challenges in HNP and other related sectors/global practices.

- Earn credibility with clients with a capacity to apply principles to specific challenges with tact, and willingness to learn and adapt in each context.

- Initiate, join and lead high-impact publications on long-standing challenges in HNP.


Skills and Qualifications:

- Advance graduate degree in a relevant discipline but with health focus (e.g., healthcare, public health and management, health systems and policy, health economics). 

- 5 years relevant experience with a Master’s degree or equivalent degree, or 3 years relevant experience with Ph.D. degree is required. 

- Track record of working with economic and sectoral data and analytical tools and models to conduct quantitative analyses and synthesize complex results.

- Ability to support dialogue with high level government officials.

- Track record of research and/or operational work on health system/public health issues. A record of peer reviewed publications is an advantage.

- Track record of handling several tasks within demanding timeframe.

Highly responsive to demands from the Bank, the Government and/or from development partners.

Prior experience in higher middle-income countries and/or the Europe and Central Asia Region is desirable.

Strong writing, communication and presentation skills in English.

Strong writing, communication and presentation skills in Romanian or other (e.g., Russian) language skills is desirable.
