U.S. Peace Corps is looking for a TECHNICAL TRAINER FOR THE COMMUNIUTY AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT (COD) PROJECT on a full-time basis for the period May-August 2019 to assist COD project and training team with technical training design, implementation and evaluation of a 10-week pre-service training for American volunteers, who will live in Moldovan communities for 2 years, and will work with local organizations throughout the country. Training sessions are conducted in small communities outside of Chișinău.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Director of Programming and Training, and in collaboration with the Training Manager and the COD Project Manager:

  • Works collaboratively with Peace Corps (PC) staff to design an integrated training curriculum to prepare the trainees to work as organizational development facilitators within Moldovan NGOs and public institutions, considering gender sensitive approaches and respect for diversity and inclusiveness in the local context
  • Designs training sessions following the principles of adult training and learning methodology, and in accordance with pre-established learning competencies.
  • Facilitates training on organizational development and capacity building topics to prepare American volunteers to serve in local civil society organizations
  • Coordinates the flow of the training including sessions, discussions, panels, field visits and practicum activities in the Pre-Service training communities, located outside of Chisinau.
  • Develops and implements practical community oriented assignments which apply the knowledge and skills acquired through instruction.
  • Maintains training records and documentation and implements training evaluation.
  • Guides the learning process and ensures systems for providing regular feedback to trainees.
  • Performs the tasks with a sense of respect for the cultural diversity of trainees and in a manner respectful to the local culture.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • University or college degree in non-profit management, public or business administration, social work, education or related field.
  • Two years of progressively responsible work training adults, facilitation of topics related to civil society organizational capacity building and community engagement and development.
  • Intercultural experience training or supporting foreign partners, preferably US citizens.
  • Familiarity with instructional design and participatory facilitation of group experiences
  • Good knowledge of current tendencies in non- profit sector in Moldova, and community development approaches to civic engagement.
  • Good interpersonal and team oriented workstyle, cultural sensitivity.
  • Native fluency in Romanian, professional proficiency in English
  • Professional use of Microsoft suite.
