Advisor on Sectoral Development

The German Development Cooperation through GIZ is looking for an Advisor on Sectoral Development within its project “Government Advice on Economic Development “.

The overall responsibilities provided for this position are as follows:

  • investment and business generation within the priority sectors agreed with the project management, based on Government strategies in place and on the background / experience and interests of the Advisor;
  • supporting and reinforcing project activities in the area of promotion of job-generating investments from the priority sectors;
  • generating new foreign and local investments, focused on the sectors agreed with the project management;
  • securing and promoting existing investments;
  • generating a positive image of the Republic of Moldova as attractive investment location in cooperation with partner counterpart and different stakeholders;
  • supporting the representation of the Republic of Moldova at international / national events or conferences;
  • facilitating discussions and activities towards improving the overall business climate;
  • gearing investment and business generation activities towards the inclusion of disadvantaged groups by identifying opportunities in close collaboration with social institutions, Regional Development Agencies (RDAs), Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), as well as business associations.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor and/or Master Degree in Business Administration, International Economics or a related topic;
  • at least 4 years of professional working experience in a consulting company, or relevant industry experience in private sector, public institution, international development organization or business association, or in a comparable and relevant position;
  • developed personal network within relevant government and industry stakeholders;
  • outstanding networking and communication skills;
  • ability to work independently, but in close cooperation with the team and superior;
  • problem-solving skills, ability to negotiate, be a strong team player and possess excellent communication, interpersonal and management skills;
  • fluency in Romanian and English is a must; knowledge of German, French, Russian, Italian or Spanish would be an asset;
  • computer proficiency and strong IT skills;
  • Moldovan citizenship or holding permanent resident status in Moldova.
