Project Consultant, Moldova (Local Hire)

The successful applicant will provide consultancy services to support the implementation of all activities to be delivered under this grant in Moldova. The role is part time and is expected to consist of roughly 50 days of support per year.

This will include working with international and Moldovan partners and individuals to execute the project activities, manage the budget, ensure compliance, and complete donor and IWPR financial and project reports.

You will:

  • Contribute and commission journalistic content on Moldova related matters.
  • Ensure the delivery of Moldova project outputs in line with approved annual activity plans.
  • Oversee training workshops and events in Moldova, as well as participate in public discussions in Moldova and neighbouring countries.
  • Manage monitoring of programme deliverables and outputs to ensure compliance with grant obligations. Edit and contribute to programmatic reporting and M&E development. Gather information and prepare reports for program M&E procedures.
  • Hire, train, guide, and advise Moldova contributors and partners. Ensure adherence to all IWPR and donor policies and procedures and all local labour laws.
  • Represent IWPR at meetings, workshops, and other events. Coordinate activities with government officials, other implementers, stakeholders, and institutions.
  • Compile materials for monthly newsletters and organisation’s global website when required.
  • Ensure a work environment that is non-discriminatory and promotes open dialogue on gender-related and culturally sensitive issues.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. Minimum five years of experience in the Moldovan media sector. Additional experience within international development and/or civil society, ideally with a European grant mechanism, preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Extensive links within the Moldova media / CSO sectors, including networks with journalists and potential contributors to IWPR content.
  • Experience managing activities, including budgets and financial reports. Ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, and deadline pressures.
  • Experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with donors, stakeholders, in-country collaborators, and staff. Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures in an open-minded, non-dogmatic manner.
  • Strong written communication skills in English, Romanian and Russian, including the ability to write in a clear, concise, well-organized manner. Proficiency in other languages of the region is desirable.
  • Advanced computer skills in a Windows based environment including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong presentation skills, including experience in the design and facilitation of short- and long-term training programs.
  • Ability to travel to neighbouring countries and within Moldova, as required.
