Duties:

Under direction of the Grants Specialist, the Grants assistant helps develop and implement post's civil society and NGO development programs; assists the Grants Specialist in administering the Democracy Commission Small Grants program, including maintaining the contact database, assisting with technical reviews of proposals, and conducting on-site program monitoring; and maintains professional contacts with civil society representatives.

Qualifications and Evaluations

EXPERIENCE: One year of grants-related work, administrative, and/or project-implementation experience is required.

Education Requirements:

College Education is required.

LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluency)) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Level IV (fluency) speaking/reading/writing Romanian is required. Level IV (fluency) speaking/reading/writing Russian is required.  (This may be tested.)

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to work skillfully and smoothly under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Must possess flexibility in adjusting to rapidly and unexpectedly changing priorities.
  • Must have computer experience: word processing, Internet, and email.
